When Halloween approaches, the idea of dressing up in something literary is always intriguing . . . but also always tricky. How do you pick an outfit? How do you find an outfit? Well, you can always start at Fashion by the Book if you want to look like the book cover, but we thought it’d be more fun to dress like the main character – based on the outfit on the cover. People might not get it, but does that really matter as long as you do? And you get to wear amazing outfits at the same time so you walk away a winner no matter what.
So if you’re sill looking for that perfect Halloween getup, try these on for size.
Grace Mae from A Madness so Discreet by Mindy McGinnis – This dress might be a bit low cut for Grace Mae’s era, but a blue t-shirt or tank top underneath would help fix that!
Lily from P.S. I Like You by Kasie West – You just need to add a thin brown belt and some red Converse to this dress to complete this look from a beloved rom com.
Desi Lee from I Believe in a Thing Called Love by Maurene Goo – Pair this Forever 21 skirt with a white blouse like the one we’re linking to from Top Shop and you’re all set!
America Singer from The Selection by Kiera Cass – A lot of us wish there were more reasons to wear big, fancy dresses, so why not do it for Halloween? While this dress is not a perfect match, you can still throw on a tiara and blow everybody away in your ballgown.
Genie Lo from The Epic Crush of Genie Lo by F. C. Yee – On the cover, Genie’s wearing her school outfit. We picked out a plaid skirt and a cardigan, but it’s pretty easy to find these in other places. Just add in a white shirt underneath and you’ll be ready to save the world!
So, these are just a few options for what to wear to dress like some of our favorite main characters. Tell us what you’ll be wearing for Halloween by Tweeting us at @piquebeyond!
