At the beginning of August, we took you on a “road trip” down the East Coast to show you all the bookish shops we could find. It’s hard to get bookish merchandise, but creative people around the world have made it easier to find things online for your favorite books, even if you can’t go to an author’s event or a convention. Even books you’d never have expected pop up sometimes!
So we’re continuing our virtual trip, but focusing on the middle of the country! Like last time, most of these shops feature items inspired by Sarah J. Maas’s work, Leigh Bardugo’s work, and Harry Potter, but we’ll feature some of the less popular fandoms in our descriptions.
West Virginia – Bubble and Geek: This shop is all about the scents – wax melts, lip balm, roll-ons, soaps, and candles inspired by your favorite shows and movies and books turned into film like Game of Thrones.
Ohio – Novel Heartbeat Creations: This candle shop makes candles inspired by your favorite bookstagram hashtags, plus your favorite books like Illuminae, Shatter Me, Flame in the Mist, Strange the Dreamer, An Ember in the Ashes, The Lunar Chronicles, Nevernight, and more.
Ohio – Spidey Scents: There are plenty of candles for those who love movies, TV, and Disney, plus some for The Wrath and the Dawn, Hush, Hush, An Ember in the Ashes, Roar, The Darkest Minds, and Snow Like Ashes.
Kentucky – Pink Cloud Candles: A newer candle shop, this is a perfect place for those who love scents inspired by their Hogwarts House, but also think they’re a good mix of two different Houses.
Kentucky – BookMarkd Tattoos: Temporary tattoos are a great way to show your fandom or test out a real tattoo. As well as Maas, Bardugo, and Harry Potter tattoos, they also have ones for Fangirl, Strange the Dreamer, The Lunar Chronicles, Illuminae, and Divergent.
Tennessee – Pirates N Pixie Dust: If you love wearing your fandom, this shop includes several jewelry options and keychains and even lets you personalize them.
Michigan – Lemon Cakes Candle Co: This Slytherin-run shop features candles
for a wide variety of fandoms, a large selection of candles perfect for Halloween, and some of them have wood wicks to give you that crackling sound.
Illinois – Novelly Yours: As well as candles inspired by more general ideas, this shop also includes candles for Brooding YA Hero, Heartless, Stalking Jack the Ripper, The Winner’s Curse, Fangirl, Little Monsters, Illuminae, and even has a Looking for Alaska inspired candle during September.
Minnesota/Wisconsin – A Page with a View: This shop does a wide variety of things – custom-bookish Funko Pops, jewelry, bookstagram props, magnets, and pins.
Minnesota – Flickering Tales: These candle tins cover different genres, classics, and YA books like Lux, Stalking Jack the Ripper, Daughter of the Pirate King, The Novice, The Scorpio Races, and a September candle for Song of the Current.
Missouri – That Bookie Bookmarks: This shop is filled with bookmarks, candles, and bath bombs for all your favorites like This Savage Song, The Upside of Unrequited, Caraval, Hunted, The Kiss of Deception, When Dimple Met Rishi, The Selection, These Broken Stars, and Red Queen. She also has a book box!
Oklahoma – Pivot Book Totes: Do book lovers ever have too many tote bags? I vote no. Get hand painted tote bags with bookish slogans or that show off books you love like Falling Kingdoms, Anna and the French Kiss, Fangirl, or The Darkest Minds.
Texas – Canterbury Road Co: Pick up candles or wax melts inspired by The Names They Gave Us, Invictus, The Queen’s Thief, The Winner’s Curse, The Scorpio Races, October Daye, When Dimple Met Rishi, or Daughter of the Forest.
Texas – Icey Designs: This shop is all in the family and perfect for book lovers – notebooks, planners, pencils, enamel pins, and candles for a huge variety of fandoms like Before She Ignites, The Girl with the Red Balloon, Forest of a Thousand Lanterns, An Enchantment of Ravens, Warcross, Dumplin’, The Star-Touched Queen, Truthwitch, and Caraval, and she regularly comes up with new ideas.
Colorado – Dio Candle Company: If you prefer your candles really small, then this shop is perfect for you. Bursting with Disney-inspired scents, a few bookish ones have snuck their way in there.
New Mexico – Evie SEO (or on Society6): If you fall in love with a bookish design, Evie probably made it. RedBubble andSociety6 mean there are a wide variety of things to buy – from stickers to tapestries to clothes – with designs inspired by The Star-Touched Queen, Wintersong, The Lovely Reckless, Fear the Drowning Deep, Nevernight, Unmarked, Strange the Dreamer, Looking for Alaska, The Love That Split the World, Rebel of the Sands, New World Rising, First We Were IV, When Dimple Met Rishi, Zodiac, A Million Junes, Want, The Crown’s Game, Daughter of the Forest, The Forbidden Orchid, Beautiful Creatures, Carry On, The Serpent King, Under the Never Sky, These Broken Stars, Finnikin of the Rock, Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda, The Sky is Everywhere, Tell Me Three Things, I’ll Give You the Sun, Girl Against the Universe, Blood and Salt, and many more (she’s a busy girl).
