We can’t begin to tell you how excited we are for The Last Thing You Said, Sara Biren’s contemporary YA debut (out April 4).
The story follows Lucy and Ben, whose lives were instantly turned upside down last summer when Trixie, Lucy’s BFF—and Ben’s sister—suddenly passed away. Now it’s a year later in their small lake town, and as the anniversary of Trixie’s death looms, Lucy and Ben’s undeniable connection pulls them back together. They can’t change what happened the day they lost Trixie, but the summer might finally bring them closer to healing—and to each other.
Trust us when we say this emotional romance will give you all the feels. But do you wanna know what else will give you all the feels, in a more immediate way since the book’s release is still weeks away? Listening to this song by the same name that author Sara Biren recently shared with us.
Written by her real-life love interest, husband Troy, Sara tells us she play’s off her partner’s creativity.
“Troy plays guitar in the evenings while I write,” Sara says of a typical night at their home. “Music is such a huge part of both our lives, and having a creative partner has been very inspiring. Hearing the song that shares a title with my book gives me all the feels—and motivates me to keep writing.”
